Monkey troop loot passing pickup truck in Thailand
This is the moment a monkey troop stole fruits from the back of a passing pickup truck in Thailand.
Footage shows the macaques 'collecting a toll' of rambutans from the vehicle that was stopped at a red light at a notorious level crossing in Lopburi province on May 25.
Like a coordinated gang, the animals leapt simultaneously onto the truck, plucking handfuls of the spiky red fruit from baskets on the cargo tray before jumping back onto the road.
The monkeys were later seen feasting on their stolen loot on the pavement.
Wildlife officials have launched a monkey-catching operation in the province from May 24 to 28, hoping to curb the out-of-control simian thugs.
Lopburi has become a popular tourist destination because of its large population of monkeys. The monkeys are mostly long-tailed macaques, and they can be found all over the city, from the temples to the streets.
However, they can also be aggressive, and they have been known to steal food and belongings.
