Harris County, TX, USA - June 6, 2024

In a disturbing incident overnight, witnesses reported that at least two juveniles intentionally set a kitten on fire in the 12,600 block of Drifting Winds. The horrifying act prompted neighbors to call 911 around 3 a.m., leading PCT 3 deputies to respond to the scene.

The kitten, gravely injured from the malicious act, was swiftly taken by the SPCA to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save its life, the severity of its injuries necessitated humane euthanasia.

Constable Alan Rosen's Animal Cruelty Investigators, in collaboration with the Houston SPCA, immediately launched an investigation upon arriving at the scene. Shockingly, they discovered that the suspects resided in a home where multiple animals were allegedly present.

Concerns for the welfare of these animals led PCT 1 to seek a warrant from a Harris County judge for the seizure of any animals on the property. The warrant was granted, and on Thursday afternoon, authorities found nine animals in the backyard of the residence. Tragically, they were all in poor condition, confined in cages without access to water or food. The Houston SPCA has since taken charge of their care.

The investigation into the individuals responsible for the kitten's torture is ongoing.
