Yemen: Yemen's Houthis claim to uncover US-Israeli spy network using aid agencies
Sanaa, Yemen - June 11, 2024
Storyline:
Yemen's security forces announced Monday that they have uncovered a large American-Israeli spy network in the Houthi-held capital Sanaa after arresting 11 Yemeni United Nations employees.
On Monday evening, security services affiliated with Houthis revealed details of a spy cell which they say was linked to American and Israeli intelligence. They said "the American-Israeli spy network has carried out espionage and sabotage roles in official and unofficial institutions for decades on behalf of the enemy."
They said it is the largest such discovery in Yemen's history.
A Houthi statement alleged American and Israeli intelligence had recruited informants to work in economic, political, humanitarian and other sectors.
Local residents showed their support for Houthi's move to crack down on the network.
