Houthi rebels attack ship with Filipino crew off Yemen
Houthi militants targeted a Liberia-flagged coal carrier carrying 22 Filipino crew off the coast of Yemen.
The Iran-allied rebels attacked the MV Tutor near Yemen's Hudaydah port as it was delivering coal to be sent to Israel on June 12.
Dramatic footage shows alarms going off in the vessel as the sailors were ordered to gather at the ship's bridge.
One of the crew was seen holding a firearm, while bottles, documents, and dislodged ceiling panels were strewn on the floor.
In another clip following the attack, the sailors called on the Philippine government for help.
A crew member said: 'We are suffering here. It's hot, there's not enough food, and we are running out of water and diesel, which we are using for the generator. There has been no rescue, only promises.'
The Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers said that the crew have been rescued, while one was still aboard the abandoned ship left drifting in the Red Sea.
The agency said in a statement: 'President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered on Friday (June 14) all concerned government agencies to bring the Filipino seafarers to safety, resulting in the successful rescue of the 21 seafarers while one remains missing aboard the vessel.
'They arrived at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday (June 15) at the Port of Manama, Bahrain. All 21 of them are safe and sound.'
The Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack, and said they used drones, ballistic missiles, and an unmanned surface boat to target the MV Tutor.
The Houthis have been attacking international ships crossing the Red Sea in what they said was a campaign of solidarity with Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
