Two killed as power construction crane collapses amid stormy conditions, crushing car in China
Two people were killed as a power construction crane collapsed amid stormy conditions, crushing a car in southern China.
The shocking dashcam footage was filmed in Dongguan City in Guangdong Province on June 15.
An electric crane, engaged in construction work along the expressway, suddenly collapsed due to the severe weather conditions. Witnesses described sparks flying as the crane's boom broke away and crashed heavily onto a passing car below.
The car, instantly reduced to wreckage, bore the weight of the crane's collapse, claiming the lives of two individuals inside, tragically identified as colleagues.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, restoring order to the scene and ensuring traffic flow with timely measures from transportation officials.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the adverse weather conditions played a significant role in the crane's collapse. Reports also indicate pressures to meet construction deadlines may have contributed, as workers were reportedly urged to continue despite the stormy conditions, potentially heightening risks.
Currently, authorities are fully engaged in handling aftermath procedures and providing support to the bereaved families, while further investigations into the precise causes of the accident are ongoing.
