Firefighters removed a giant python from a sheep pen after it devoured a lamb in southern China.

The video was filmed in Hechi City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on June 15.

A 3-metre-long and 40-kilogram python was discovered in a villager's sheep pen and swallowed a lamb, terrifying the villager who immediately called the police for help.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Hechi detachment dispatched a team from the Donglan County Fire Rescue Brigade. A vehicle with five personnel was sent to the scene to capture the snake.

Upon assessing the situation, the commander ordered four rescue personnel to don protective gear. Using a snake catcher and wooden sticks, three firefighters quickly clamped down on the snake's head, while a fourth firefighter dragged the python out and secured its head with a rope to prevent any harm.

The python, classified as a second-level wild protected animal was safely removed from the sheep pen.

After the operation, the fire rescue personnel handed the snake over to the Donglan County Forestry Bureau for further handling.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
