Cleanup operations have commenced this morning following a fire that engulfed heaps of waste at the Bellolampo landfill last night. Since 9:20 PM on June 17, firefighters have tirelessly battled to extinguish the blaze that erupted in the seventh basin.

While the fire has been contained and extinguished, ongoing monitoring of the affected area remains crucial to prevent flare-ups, exacerbated by the extreme temperatures at the fire's origin points.

The Regional Environmental Protection Agency (RAP) has taken preemptive action, filing a report with relevant authorities highlighting previous irregularities. "I want to thank all the personnel of the company who, with great sacrifice, worked until dawn to secure the situation," remarked RAP President Giuseppe Todaro. "However, in recent days, we've observed concerning signs prompting us to escalate matters to the authorities. We wish to avoid further emergencies that could be prevented."
