Touching moment campaigning father reunited with daughter 23 years after she was kidnapped
This is the touching moment a father is reunited with his long-lost daughter 23 years after she was kidnapped.
The footage shows how the father and daughter were reunited in Hebi, Henan, China, after she was snatched by kidnappers 23 years ago, on April 15, 2001.
Other clips show Shi Chunxin being given a plant by his daughter Shi Ke at a restaurant, while the third clip shows them making up for lost time, with the dad pushing his now adult daughter on some swings.
Shi Ke was abducted when Shi Chunxin's wife, not named, had been riding a trike in their hometown in Henan province with her when another motorised trike suddenly pulled alongside them, and two people reached out and the young girl, fleeing the scene before Shi Ke's mum could do anything.
Shi Chunxin, 48, never gave up looking for his daughter and even helped other families across the country locate their missing children who had fallen victim to human traffickers, becoming a high-profile advocate against human trafficking in the process.
For years, Shi gave out leaflets, put up missing persons posters, and travelled the country trying to find Ke.
Finally, on May 27, he was told that a DNA test had matched him with a young woman.
They were reunited on May 31, 8,447 days after she was kidnapped, spending their first Father's Day together.
It is currently unclear what happened to Shi Ke during this time, with her family protecting her privacy.
The young woman, who wore dark glasses and a face mask in the footage to hide her face would only say that she is still studying.
She said: 'I want to thank my biological parents for searching for me over these past 20 years, and also everyone who provided help.'
