Landslide crashes down Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia
A massive landslide crashed down on Mount Kinabalu, as seen from a hiker's trail in Malaysia.
Footage shows rocks and soil cascading down the cliffside with a cloud of dust and debris forming at the bottom in Sabah on June 24.
Climbers heard the rumble from a distance and stopped to witness the scene unfold from one of the peaks.
Despite the extent of the damage, Sabah Parks Director Dr Maklarin Lakim said it did not affect any villages.
Dr Maklarin said: ‘We are currently monitoring the development of landslides in the upstream of Mesilau river and its impact on river water flow. The situation is currently under control.'
Mount Kinabalu, located on the island of Borneo, is prone to landslides due to its geological characteristics and environmental factors.
