Heroic nurse assists in emergency delivery at Chinese hospital, ensuring safety of mother and newborn
On June 23, at the inpatient hall of Subei People's Hospital in southern China, a pregnant woman who had just been admitted suddenly went into labour. In this critical moment, nurse Li Ping stepped in and successfully assisted in the delivery, ensuring the safety of both mother and child.
Surveillance footage shows that around noon on June 23, the pregnant woman, accompanied by her family, entered Subei People's Hospital to complete admission procedures. However, while in the hall, she suddenly experienced severe abdominal pain and her water broke, indicating imminent labour. Li Ping, a head nurse from the Gastrointestinal Center, happened to be passing by after her shift. She quickly approached, supported the woman, and inquired about her condition. Realizing the woman was about to give birth, she immediately had her lie down and prepared for the delivery.
As soon as the woman lay down, the baby was swiftly born. Despite the suddenness of the situation, Li Ping remained calm and efficiently addressed the issue of the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck, cleared the baby's airway, and stimulated crying to establish independent breathing.
Meanwhile, obstetrics staff quickly arrived on the scene to provide emergency care for the mother and newborn, escorting them to the maternity ward for further observation. In the end, both mother and child were safe and healthy.
