A husband had his marriage certificate tattooed onto his arm to show devotion to his wife.

Nu Mahanusing, 37, said he struggled to express his emotions to his partner of 19 years, Kaew, but he still wanted to make her feel special, so he booked the tattoo session in Buriram, Thailand.

The loving husband brought Kaew with him on the day of the appointment on January 1 without her knowing what the design was going to be and surprised her as it was done in front of her.

Footage shows the pattern being transferred onto Nu's skin at the tattoo parlour. The border was inked with red roses, and the details of the document, including the government seal, were complete.

Nu said: ‘We have been together for 19 years. We have a 16-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son.

‘We married in 2019 in Mueang Buriram district and have not had any arguments since.'

The husband waited six months for the tattoo appointment on his left arm below the elbow and paid a fee of 2,500 baht (53.47 GBP).

He said: ‘Despite occasional disagreements, our 19-year relationship did not encounter serious troubles. I attribute it all to my wife, who is very understanding of me in every aspect.'

After the tattoo was completed, Nu said she asked him how he had the courage to get the unusual tattoo, and he answered: ‘Because of love.'

He said: ‘Many coworkers ask me about the tattoo. It is visible if I wear a short-sleeve shirt. I don't mind the curiosity; my primary goal is to express my love.

‘There were some negative comments, but my family is supportive and adored my tattoo, and that is all that matters.'

Meanwhile, tattoo artist Sarin Uttakhan said he confirmed if Nu was sure about his chosen design.

He said: ‘I told him what could happen if their relationship turned sour. I told him removing the tattoo would be difficult but he was serious about it.'
