Italy: French Hiker Rescued in Gallura Operation
Sardinia, Italy - July 13, 2024
At approximately 3:00 PM on July 13, a team from the Olbia Fire Brigade, transported by a Coast Guard patrol boat, responded to a distress call on Tavolara Island to assist a French hiker stranded on the "Ferrata degli Angeli" (Angels' Ferrata). Simultaneously, the VF Drago 143 helicopter from the Fertilia unit arrived on scene and successfully retrieved the woman.
Despite being frightened, the hiker was reported to be in good physical condition. She was handed over to the ground team and safely escorted back to Porto San Paolo.
