STORYLINE:

China's green energy projects in Africa have bolstered renewable energy capacity and consolidated South-South cooperation, said Mostafa Sherbiny, an Egyptian expert in sustainability and climate risk assessment.

"China plays a major role in renewable energy in Africa. About 500 million people in Africa are deprived of electricity. China's support for solar energy projects in most African countries has provided a significant boost to the Global South in general.
Egypt relies heavily on China to provide the Egyptian market with expertise in renewable energy, given Egypt's ambitions to become a regional and global energy hub by exporting green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other hydrogen derivatives."

Sherbiny further noted that addressing climate change requires a shift to renewable energy, a transition in which China already plays a key role.

"I believe that China is playing a crucial role in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly growth globally.
