A late-night incident on July 5, 2024, has left the community reeling as San Francisco Police Department officers responded to a distressing scene on the 2300 block of Buchanan Street. Officers were flagged down to assist an unconscious adult male suffering from severe injuries, including a fractured skull. The victim, identified as being cognitively impaired, was rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment.

According to investigators, the victim managed to capture video footage of the assault, providing crucial evidence. The video depicted an unidentified male suspect obstructing a Waymo vehicle and engaging in a heated exchange with its occupants. Moments later, the suspect aggressively lunged at the victim, causing him to fall repeatedly before assaulting him.

The suspect, described as a male adult aged 25 to 30 years old, with medium complexion and facial hair, was last seen wearing a dark backward baseball cap, black jacket, blue shirt, light blue jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a white bag.

The SFPD General Work Detail has taken over the investigation and is urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect's whereabouts to come forward. The community's assistance is vital in identifying and locating the individual responsible for this brutal attack.
