Two pet dogs surfed through a flooded street on a styrofoam board during a typhoon in the Philippines.

Footage shows the pooches onboard the light material that floated them to safety in Manila as Typhoon Gaemi battered the Southeast Asian country on July 25.

The canines were stranded in a 3ft-deep deluge and evacuated with their owner, who onlookers said met them at the end of the street.

Resident Mark Bartolome said: ‘The dogs eventually saw their owner at the end of the street where there was less floodwater. They were so smart and brave.'

Typhoon Gaemi killed 22 in the Philippines after lashing through mainland Luzon for almost a week, intensifying monsoon rains. It headed to Taiwan, killing three people and injuring more than 200 when it made landfall.
