STORYLINE:
As the Olympic Games get underway in Paris, many tourists and spectators were seen wearing flowers on their heads, experiencing traditional Chinese folk custom Zanhuawei (flowery headwear).
This tradition originates from Xunpu Village in Quanzhou City in China's Fujian Province.
Female villagers of Xunpu tie their hair in a chignon, and decorate it with colorful flower garlands.
It is believed to have been introduced to China at least hundreds of years ago.
The custom of Xunpu women, including Zanhuawei, was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
