Massive fire Hundreds of houses in Indonesia were destroyed by fire, 7 people were injured, thousands of residents were evacuated.


A severe fire engulfed hundreds of residents' houses in Manggarai sub-district, Tebet district, South Jakarta City, Indonesia on August 13 early this morning at around 02.30 West Indonesian time (WIB) local time.


34 combined vehicles were deployed in the process of extinguishing the fire which burned dozens of residents' houses.

120 firefighters were deployed to localize the spread and extinguish the fire which continued to spread and burned the contents of residents' houses.


The Chief Executive of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, Isnawa Adji, said that seven people were injured as a result of the disaster, and dozens of houses and hundreds of residents had to be evacuated.

"Seven injured victims have been treated by officers. Hundreds of houses were burnt and data is still being collected, meanwhile there are thousands of residents who were displaced because their houses were on fire," said Isnawa Adji on Tuesday 13 August 2024.


Meanwhile, the fire extinguishing process took more than four hours. There were several obstacles experienced by fire officials and residents who helped with the extinguishing process.

Firefighters seemed to be having difficulty, because mobile units could not get close to the fire point because the location was very densely populated.

The fire was extinguished at around 07.15 West Indonesia Time (WIB) local time and the fire was successfully cooled down at around 09.30 WIB after deploying hundreds of personnel and fire vehicles.

It is known that the residential fire caused 1,050 families to be evacuated to safer places.
