Crazed stray dog attacks student, 22, outside his family home
This is the terrifying moment a stray dog attacked a student outside his family home in India.
Footage shows Ashish Yadav, 22, being assaulted by the canine while talking on his phone in Shahpur, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on August 14. The incident occurred at 9:45 pm as Ashish walked in front of his house in the Awas Vikas Colony.
The snarly beast began biting Ashish and continued its rampage, attacking 17 people, including women and children, over an hour.
Despite Ashish's attempts to fend off the dog, it bit his leg and face before fleeing. He was left holding his blood-covered face before tending to wounds on his lips, cheek and around his eyes.
Following the attack, the dog targeted a woman at her home's gate, injuring her leg and knee. She required multiple stitches to close the wound. The canine also attacked young girls playing outside their homes.
Ashish's father, Vijay Yadav, sought rabies vaccination for his son at the district hospital but was told that the hospital had run out of the vaccine.
Despite reporting the attacks to the municipal corporation, the issue of stray dogs remains unresolved as per victims.
Gorakhpur's Additional Municipal Commissioner, Durgesh Mishra, expressed unawareness of the situation and any related complaints.
He said: 'We regularly run a campaign for sterilization of stray dogs. An Animal Birth Control Center is also being built.'
'Stray dogs are being caught and sterilized and we run awareness campaigns for vaccination for pet dogs.'
