A mother dog who was stuck between the metal bars of a gate was rescued.

The stray female pooch had recently given birth to puppies and had snuck into the home at night to search for food in Chainat, Thailand.

However, the hapless canine's lower body was caught in the tight space while she was trying to crawl out on April 21.

Footage shows the exhausted animal with half her body poking through the metal sliding fence.

There was blood around her mouth as well as on the ground where her body had been hanging.

Residents found her in the morning and called rescuers to help extract her from the gate.

They covered a cloth around the mother dog and used a power tool to widen the space between the metal bars. The operation lasted for only ten minutes.

A rescuer said: 'She bit the gate trying to free herself, but injured her mouth instead.'

The canine was given first aid and fed. They freed her so she could return to her litter.
