A man jumped from a van to escape as a trailer loaded with new cars flipped onto it in southern China.

The terrifying dashcam footage was filmed in Kangding City in Sichuan Province on August 18.

The trailer was navigating a narrow, two-way road, where caution is paramount due to the limited space. As it descended the slope, the driver suddenly realised the brakes had failed, and the vehicle began to careen out of control. In a desperate bid to minimise the damage, the driver steered the truck towards a flowerbed on the opposite lane before the trailer toppled over.

A nearby minivan was caught in the process, with passengers inside making a dramatic escape by jumping out of the vehicle. Fortunately, the minivan only sustained side damage, and no one was injured.

The accident caused significant traffic congestion on the Luding-Kangding section of National Highway 318, disrupting the flow of vehicles for an extended period.

Traffic police quickly responded to the emergency call, arriving at the scene to conduct rescue operations and manage the situation. Thanks to their swift action, the road was soon cleared and reopened to traffic.

While there were no injuries, the accident resulted in considerable financial losses. The overturned trailer and its cargo—five brand-new Toyota Prado SUVs—suffered extensive damage. The exact extent of the losses is still under assessment.
