Shocking fire at a refinery in the City of Ensenada, Buenos Aires
A shocking fire started on Thursday afternoon at the YPF refinery in Ensenada. The dense columns of black smoke can be seen from a great distance, while the fire rises as if from the center of an erupting volcano. The company stressed that measures were taken to “contain the situation and avoid the risk of spreading.”
Police sources indicated that “the fire broke out in the tank area” of the Refinery of the Ingeniero Enrique Mosconi Industrial Complex, belonging to the national oil company.
After 6 p.m., YPF reported that the fire was already “contained.” In addition, they indicated that “no injuries have been reported so far.”
The place was quickly evacuated, while several fire brigades approached to begin work to control the fire, which is believed to have started at 4:30 p.m.
