A drowning rat was rescued when it was found clinging to a log to survive typhoon floods.

The rodent was forced out of its nest when a deluge filled the streets before it was found floating on a wood by a resident in Chiang Rai, Thailand on September 12.

Footage shows the tiny animal drenched and hugging the object to survive the bad weather. A kind local picked it up and put it on top of a fence.

Northern Thailand has been battered by continuous heavy rain since September 8 due to the effect of Typhoon Yagi.

Yagi, said to be Asia's most powerful storm this year, was downgraded to a tropical storm on Sunday morning, September 8. It killed at least 15 people in the Philippines before slamming into southern China and Vietnam, where it left at least 150 dead and dozens missing.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) had forecasted isolated heavy rains with gusty winds across the northern and northeastern regions as remnants of the cyclone strengthened the monsoon.
