Gaza Strip - September 21, 2024

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 41,467, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the past 24 hours, the Israeli military killed 12 people and wounded 43 others in Gaza, bringing the total number of injuries to 95,921 since the conflict broke out, it added.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported on Monday that the number of its staff killed since the outbreak of the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict has reached 224.

The report also noted that the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip is barely functioning, with 94 hospitals and primary healthcare centers unable to operate normally as a shortage of fuel continues to jeopardize humanitarian aid efforts.

Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
