A helicopter crash in Pune, India, killed at least three people on Wednesday morning.

Footage shows the aircraft severely damaged from the impact, with a section of the fuselage engulfed in flames on October 2.

Authorities said the incident occurred near the Bavdhan neighbourhood shortly after the helicopter took off from the helipad at the Oxford Golf Club.

The helicopter, an Augusta 109 VT-EVV owned by Delhi-based Heritage Aviation, was en route to Maharashtra's Beed to pick up NCP leader Sunil Tatkare for a trip to Mumbai.

An official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the crash. Initial reports indicate that dense fog in the area may have contributed to the incident.

A senior Pune Police official said: 'The helicopter took off at 7:30 am from Oxford Golf Course. The accident occurred just five minutes later due to heavy fog.'

All three occupants of the chopper, including two pilots and an engineer, succumbed to their injuries despite earlier reports suggesting they were in serious condition.

In another accident, four people were injured on August 24 when an AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter crashed in Pune's Paud area, reportedly due to heavy rain and strong winds.
