Snake sparks panic as it slithers into female rider's scooter
A snake sparked panic when it slithered into a female rider's scooter.
Siriphan Sudsaneh, 54, was driving her Yamaha Filano along a road in Phrae province, Thailand, when she felt the reptile climbing up her leg on October 7.
She parked her vehicle on the roadside, screaming as the serpent crept into the scooter's machinery.
She called the local snake wranglers emergency number for help fearing the creature was venomous.
Video shows the specialists spraying insect repellent into the scooter to drive the snake out into the open. When the creature emerged on the pavement, they snared it with a catchpole and bagged it in a sack.
Siriphan said: 'At first, I thought it was just a detached pant strap but when I looked down on my leg, I saw the brown snake moving there. I kept screaming which drew the attention of other people. I was scared that it was venomous because I had previously seen cobras around my house.'
The rescue team said the reptile was an Oligodon or kukri snake - a non-venomous colubrid found throughout central and tropical Asia.
The snake is said to be named after the Nepalese kukri knife which its broad and curved hind fangs resemble.
