This footage shows police squads busting an illegal drug lab worth EUR 400 million that was run by an international criminal gang.
The discovery was made in a building near the town of Aluksne, Latvia.

Police said they seized illegal substances with a market value of at least EUR 400 million (GBP 334 million).

During the operation, a total of eight individuals, aged between 24 and 35 and not from Latvia, were arrested.

The months-long investigation was reportedly supported by the European police agency Europol.

More than a tonne of the designer drug Clephedrone and over 38,000 litres of chemical liquids intended for narcotics production were seized.

The necessary laboratory equipment was also discovered in the house.

According to Latvian Police Chief Armands Ruks, this is the largest facility for the production of synthetic drugs ever discovered in the EU country.

The narcotics were likely intended for European countries, such as those in Scandinavia, or neighbouring countries like Russia and Belarus, authorities said.
