"I was at home watching TV when my friend asked me about transiting through Pudong airport in Shanghai. I had an idea. Instead of telling him what to do, maybe I could show him.
So behind me is the international arrivals for Pudong airport here at Terminal 1. And what you want to do is turn left and walk for about 30 seconds until you arrive at this red 'i.' The Shanghai Tourism Information & Services."

"Good morning. Do you have a tour today at 10:00 a.m.?"

"So we're on the bus. We're heading downtown. And there's somebody else on this tour today. Would you like to introduce yourself?"

"Yeah, my name is Anatole. I'm French, and I'm living in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. And I'm just traveling back to France for one month. And I stopped at the airport because I had like a layover of 17 hours. I came to the tourist agency to be like, hey, what could I do today?"

"So, have you ever been to China before?"

"Never been to China before. And I'm lucky to have that trip."

"Behind me is the famous Wukang Building. It was built in 1924 and resembles a massive ship. Today, there are so many people in the sunshine in Shanghai, taking pictures and enjoying this beautiful place.
It's a very nice place to visit. Lots of tree-lined avenues. Do you know what Shanghai is famous for? Coffee shops. So, let's go and grab a coffee somewhere nearby.
As we sipped our coffee, Levis, our tour guide for today, told us about the route that we would be taking and answered any questions."

"What's your first impression of Shanghai?"
"At the moment, I love it. People are smiling and enjoying taking photos. The weather is perfect. It's not too hot, not too cold. It's really good. So many beautiful shops. It's a really romantic place here.
"Romantic."
"Yeah, I'm French."
"You see the love and everything, right?"

"Just leaving the coffee shop, we met a couple of tourists from Singapore, Joanne and Lee. And we asked them if they wanted to join our tour. So yeah, they're coming with us. We're making a little group here to explore Shanghai. And did I mention this whole trip is free? So, transportation, going to all the places, the tour guide... it's all completely free. And it's not just this tour that they have. There are three routes, depending on what time your layover is from. They start at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
So here we are in Wuzhong market. Vegetables, fruit, fish, meat... everything. And it's very clean. It's actually somewhere I've never been before. What's interesting is you can actually buy the stuff, and then they've got like little restaurants here, so you can cook it while you're here.
Right now we are passing through the People's Square, and this is the center of a lot of different things. They have commercial centers, tourism centers, economy centers, museums, and theaters here. This is the heart of Shanghai City.
We have arrived here in Nanjing East Road. This is the most famous shopping road in all of China."

"I like this street because it has a combination of conservation buildings, as well as the very modern buildings. And it makes it a mix of a very electric kind of feeling."

"I had no idea about how Shanghai looked, and I'm really surprised. I like it. I wish I could spend more time here, but I have my flight tonight."

"I will come back to China. I don't know when, but I will spend more time here. It's a very good plan. They take you to places that you won't go to see by yourself because you don't know. And it's really hard to move around if you don't know the transportation system. I think it's a very good way to discover the city in a day, to know more about the people and to know more about the culture, and everything."
