STORYLINE:

China continues to be a vital market for German companies, playing a crucial role in their long-term success, said Denis Depoux, the global managing director at Roland Berger.

In a recent interview with Xinhua, Depoux highlighted the strong appeal of the Chinese market to German businesses, noting that the steady rise in German investment underscores both the reliance on China and the innovation driving its economy.

"China remains a very important, if not sometimes existential market for German companies. China is the first export destination of German companies. I think at this point, China's investment represents 10.5 percent, and it's all-time high of German overseas investment. It's existential because it's a big market. It's a market where German companies like Roland Berger have been present for many decades accompanied (by) the transformation and modernization of the Chinese industry. So I think one of the things that Germany is well renowned for is basically selling transformation tools and equipment, like machine tools, like industry automation solutions, and that has been needed in China for so many years."

Depoux highlighted that new Chinese EVs prioritize customer experience, delivering practical and engaging travel solutions.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DENIS DEPOUX, Global managing director at Roland Berger
"The NEV revolution is starting from the East and starting from China. These cars, not really cars actually, they start from a use case scenario. They start from a very customer-centric approach around what makes the customer experience interesting, exciting, useful every day in mobility. And that's what the Chinese industry is bringing to the world and that's changing the way traditional OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) in China, but also elsewhere in the world, are seeing the NEV market. And also of course electrification will be a key contribution to reducing greenhouse gases emissions everywhere in the world."
