STORYLINE:

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10.

Nael Al-Husami, director general of the Amman Chamber of Industry, described the event as a real opportunity to introduce more Jordanian products to Chinese consumers.

"Today, we cooperate with the Jordanian community, and there is an Arab community that is very encouraged to work with China. Also, we as a country, like many third-world countries, import goods from China in a good way. But our exports to China are limited, mainly raw materials like phosphate and potash. Therefore, we look at the CIIE as a real opportunity to introduce Jordanian products to Chinese consumers. Jordanian products are already present in about 140 countries worldwide."

Al-Husami also emphasized China's efforts of boosting trade, which he believes brings mutual benefits.

"We see that the Chinese government is open to the world in increasing trade, not just exports. This is a positive step, providing reassurance to global markets that trade will not be only one-way. It also enhances the welfare and diversity of consumers within China or within any other country."
