Yelm, United States - November 09, 2024 In a dramatic pursuit that started with a simple traffic stop, Yelm Police engaged in a high-stakes chase with a driver who refused to comply. The vehicle, sporting altered license tabs, was the catalyst for a chase that saw speeds reach nearly 100 mph as it barreled through the Nisqually Indian Tribe territory. The fleeing driver, seemingly unfazed by the damage caused, including at least one collision with another vehicle, persisted in his escape. Despite having two tires deflated by spike strips deployed by Nisqually Tribal Police, the suspect maintained a perilous velocity. As the chase approached the City of Lacey, where traffic density increased, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office took the lead. In a decisive move to prevent potential harm to the public, a deputy executed a high-speed PIT maneuver, forcing the BMW off the road and into a collision with a tree. In the aftermath, a firearm was dislodged from the vehicle, later discovered to be stolen from Lacey in 2013. The driver, suffering from the crash, received immediate aid from deputies until paramedics took over for medical treatment. Further investigation through a search warrant uncovered additional weapons. The driver, who had outstanding warrants, faces charges including hit and run, attempting to elude, possession of stolen firearms, and driving with a revoked license.
