STORYLINE:
A Chinese film showcase kicked off Sunday at Taj Mall Cinema in the Jordanian capital of Amman, attracting hundreds of cinema enthusiasts.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Chen Chuandong highlighted the rapid development, unique characteristics, and bright prospects of film art and industry in both China and Jordan.
Chen noted that the showcased films contain vibrant stories of social transformation in China. The ambassador expressed optimism that viewers would be provided with a window into contemporary Chinese society, gaining insight into Chinese sentiments and values.
Mohannad Al-Bakri, Managing Director of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, said that the showcase is an opportunity for Jordanians to learn about Chinese culture and explore Chinese civilization.
Al-Bakri pointed to ongoing cooperation between Jordan and China in the fields of film production and screening, and expressed hope that such cooperation will continue in the future.
Four Chinese films are being shown during the two-day event, which is co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Film Administration and the China Cultural Center in Amman. The event is supported by the Chinese Embassy in Jordan and the Royal Film Commission of Jordan.
