Oklahoma City, United States - November 10, 2024 A routine welfare check turned into a dramatic life-saving moment as Officer Reyes of the Oklahoma City Police Department rescued a man sleeping dangerously close to the edge of a bridge at S. Pennsylvania and Exchange Avenue earlier this month. Bodycam footage captured the tense moment when the man, dressed in a red sweatshirt and lying flat on the narrow ledge, began to roll toward the drop. Just as he was about to fall, Reyes lunged and grabbed him by his sweatshirt, preventing a fatal plunge into the waters hundreds of feet below. A passerby, halting his run to assist, helped Reyes pull the startled man to safety. “You alright, buddy?” Reyes asked after the rescue, ensuring the man was unharmed. Medical staff cleared the man, who explained he had simply fallen asleep. Reyes later gave him a ride back to his family. The officer’s quick reflexes and determination turned a near-tragedy into a story of courage and community.
