A quick-thinking grandfather rescued a girl from an electric shock caused by a charging phone.

CCTV footage shows the child sitting on a sofa next to her sibling while browsing her gadget in Zhejiang, China, on November 26.

Moments later, she jolted and screamed after being zapped by an electric shock when the faulty charger malfunctioned.

The pensioner immediately stood up to check on his granddaughter and removed the charger cable from the device.

The elderly man said: 'She was fine, but her hands and feet were sore and swollen after what happened.'

Individuals who have been electrocuted may experience pain, tingling, numbness, weakness, or difficulty moving a limb.
