Housewife suffers electric shock leaving her stuck to metal railings
This is the dramatic moment a housewife suffered an electric shock, leaving her stuck to metal railings.
CCTV footage shows the woman carrying laundry she had taken out in front of her house when she reached out to close a window in Narathiwat, Thailand.
She then slid it shut, and when she was about to pull her hand back from the grill bars, she was suddenly electrocuted on November 30.
The terrified homeowner cried out in pain as her hand clamped tightly onto the bar, leaving her unable to let go.
Her son rushed outside to see what was happening and tried to find a way to help his mother.
However, the woman eventually managed to pull her hand free from the surface.
She did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident, but she said she had suffered some numbness in her hand for the next few hours.
She said that the cause may have been a damaged CCTV cable that had come into contact with the metal bars, causing an electrical leak.
The woman said: 'I didn't know that the CCTV cable was damaged. After I closed the window and was pulling my hand back, I got an electric shock. I couldn't pull my hand out of the bars by myself at first. I tried really hard to pull my hand off but couldn't.'
An electrical leak happens when electricity escapes its intended path, often due to damaged insulation, and contacts a normally non-current-carrying metal object. When a person touches this 'live' metal object, they complete the circuit to the ground and suffer an electric shock.
