This is the dramatic moment a disabled girl and her grandmother fell into a water after her wheelchair rolled away.

The youngster, 12, on the mobility device, slipped toward a nearby pond while her elderly grandmother was busy talking to a neighbor in Guangdong, China.

Nerve-wracking CCTV footage shows the chair rolling downhill, causing her to turn around and see her granddaughter plunging into the water on August 16.

She rushed to save her, but both ended up falling into the pond.

The woman in red shirt, chatting with the pensioner moments earlier, can be seen sprinting to help.

A man who heard the commotion ran over to assist, pulling the grandmother and child out.

Quick-thinking rescuers managed to save the pair and carefully lifted the wheelchair onto the bank.

A town official said the pond was about 3ft deep and both were unharmed.

The town and village are now carrying out holiday safety awareness campaigns and working on protective measures around the pond to reduce safety risks.
