Driver found dead 'with his pants pulled down' in crane cabin at construction site
A driver was found dead inside a crane cabin with his trousers around his knees at a construction site in Thailand.
The operator Suriya, 41, had finished his tasks for the morning, but failed to come down from the crane control cab 70ft above ground at the warehouse construction project in Ayutthaya on November 19.
His colleagues climbed the tower crane to check on him as he was absent during lunch and dinner - only to find him lifeless inside.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Saknarin Rattanapan of the Bang Sai Police Station said police were notified at 6 pm local time. They
He said: ‘An initial investigation revealed no signs of struggle or assault. The body will be taken to the Central Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani for a post-mortem exam to determine the cause of death before being handed over to his relatives for his funeral.'
Police said Suriya was found wearing a red shirt with his pants 'pulled down to his knees'. A rescue team used a pulley to collect his body from the control cab.
Suriya's wife, Nannapas, 41, said that he drove his motorcycle to work from Bangkok. She said he had no underlying medical conditions, but was recently involved in a motorcycle accident where he suffered injuries to his head and chest despite wearing a helmet.
She said: 'I rushed to the construction site when I received the news that my husband was dead. It doesn't seem real because it's so sudden. I'm still in shock.'
