A launch ceremony for a cross-border self-drive tour was held at Bakti port in Tacheng City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Friday, marking the full restoration of regular passenger traffic at the port after a four-year-and-eight-month hiatus.
Located on the China-Kazakhstan border, Bakti port is a vital gateway connecting China to Central Asia and Russia.
Passenger customs clearance was suspended at the port in February 2022 due to upgrading a passenger inspection hall connecting the port on the Kazakhstan side.
