This is the dramatic moment two tourists were killed when a tree fell onto them in the famous 'monkey forest' in Bali.

Dozens of holidaymakers were walking through the attraction - one of the most well-known in Indonesia - when the huge Banyan tree was uprooted due to recent storms.

CCTV shows the massive trunk collapsing as visitors fled. Tragically it landed on two of the visitors to park, which was packed during the current high season.

Police named the dead pair as Justine Christine, 32, from France, and Kim Hyoeun, 42, from France. They had been visiting the park to watch and feed the monkeys.

Senior Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, said: 'At that time, many tourists were enjoying their visit. The deceased victim is currently being at the Kenak Medika Ubud Hospital. We are coordinating with Immigration and the victim's family.'

Head of Public Relations for the Gianyar Police, Iptu I Nyoman Tantra, confirmed the incident and explained that the temporary address of one of the victims was at the Koma Neka Rasa Sayang Hotel.

He said: 'As a result of the tree falling disaster in the Ubud Monkey Forest area, there were two fatalities and one injured victim.'

The Monkey Forest in Bali, officially known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, or Mandala Suci Wenara Wana in the local language, is a famous nature reserve and Hindu temple complex located in Ubud, Bali.

It is one of the island's most popular tourist attractions and holds both ecological and spiritual significance.

Visitors often feed the monkeys, which have become tame and interact with humans.
