Families welcomed the USS Oak Hill warship as it returned to Virginia Beach after a seven-month deployment in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.

The USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), a Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship, returned home to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story on December 7.

Heartwarming footage shows families gathered together with colourful handmade banners and bouquets as they waited for the officers to disembark the ship.

Another officer was spotted holding his newborn baby after months of being apart from his family.

More than 4,000 sailors and marines were assigned to the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSPARG). They participated in a variety of interoperability exercises to enhance their combat readiness, crisis response capabilities, and deepen relationships with NATO allies and partners.
