Casa Grande, United States - December 13, 2024 A Casa Grande police officer is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a homeowner trapped behind a steel security door during a devastating house fire early on December 13. At 4:55 a.m., officers responded to a structure fire on East Ash Avenue. Officer Samuel was the first to arrive and immediately heard cries for help from the rear of the residence. Despite thick smoke and rising heat, he rushed to the backyard, where he found the homeowner trapped behind a locked steel door. With no time to spare, Officer Samuel worked relentlessly to break the padlock and, when that failed, tore the entire steel door off its frame, freeing the victim. Other officers arrived to assist, confirming that no one else was inside. The Casa Grande Fire Department worked tirelessly to contain the fire, which destroyed the home but spared neighboring properties. While the homeowner was treated on scene, three officers, including Samuel, were evaluated for smoke inhalation. Samuel also suffered hand lacerations and burn blisters but is expected to recover. Thanks to Officer Samuel’s quick thinking and bravery, the homeowner is alive, and no further injuries were reported.
