This is the moment a US police officer rescued a driver from a burning vehicle on Saturday, July 1.

The dramatic rescue began when a deputy from the Candler County Sheriff's Office was flagged down by pedestrians on Georgia State Route 46 in the US on July 1.

Bodycam footage shows how Sergeant Ashley Taylor gets out of his vehicle and sprints through a field. He then manages to pull the woman from the vehicle before demanding to know if anyone else is still inside.

A passing road user then arrives on the scene to help the deputy carry the languid survivor back to the road.

The officer was later praised for his actions.
