A powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's Kyushu region late Monday night, triggering small tsunamis but fortunately causing no major damage or injuries.

The tremor, recorded at 9:19 PM local time (12:19 GMT), occurred at a depth of 36 kilometers, with its epicenter located just 18 kilometers off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, according to the US Geological Survey.

Footage from Kagoshima Airport in Kirishima City captures the dramatic moment the earthquake alert appeared on a smartphone moments after a plane landed. Passengers experienced shaking almost immediately after receiving the notification.

Despite the intensity of the quake, authorities have reported no significant structural damage or casualties. The brief tsunamis caused minimal disruption, underscoring the region's resilience in the face of seismic events.
