Locals scrambled to collect hundreds of small fish that were washed up on a sea breaker in the Philippines.

Footage shows the frenzied port workers gathering the sardines that were pushed onto the concrete in Aklan province on January 10.

They hauled them into plastic bags which they brought home to cook for dinner with their families.

Speed boat guide John De Los Santos said: 'There was a massive wave that carried the fish onto the seawall. There were so many of them.'

John added some of the fish were still in the water.

He said: 'The surface of the water if you would take a closer look was almost silver because of the fish. The sea is very rich.'
