Delighted fishermen catches massive 190kg grouper fish after storm in the Philippines
Delighted fishermen caught a massive 190kg grouper fish after a storm battered a village in the Philippines.
Footage shows the locals excitedly hauling their enormous catch off the waters in Antique province on June 25.
The fishermen had to skewer the fish on a bamboo so they could lift it off the water and into a port.
They believe the fish was pushed by heavy currents after a monsoon storm hit their province.
Fisherman Rex Vego said: ‘It was the biggest fish caught in our place. There was a storm the night before the fish was caught. Everyone was so happy to see it.'
Rex added that the grouper was lured into their boat while trawling for tuna but they were surprised when they saw the large creature flapping inside their net.
He said: ‘We were hoping to find yellowfin tuna or blue marlins but we were surprised when we saw the large grouper inside the net instead.'
In 2019, a giant grouper weighing 176kg was also caught in neighbouring town Sebaste after being stranded near the shore.
