North Wales residents queue hours for water in Conwy Water Crisis
Hundreds of cars queue for over a mile after a bottled water station opened at Colwyn Bay's Eiras Park this morning. Water supplies have been cut off for up to 40,000 households across Conwy County since a large underground pipe from Llyn Colwyd in Snowdonia burst on Wednesday. Supplies may not be restored until Sunday.
North Wales Police put out a statement urging anyone not collecting water to avoid the Colwyn Bay area as the roads have become gridlocked, with an estimated wait of two hours to access a drive-through water collection point. Many are abandoning their cars and walking, carrying heavy packs of water for miles across town. Others have been filling buckets from streams and the sea to flush toilets.
