Police chased a tractor after a worker reportedly borrowed it from his boss to clear snow for a friend.

Footage shows the motor vehicle driving down a street with a police car close behind it in Krasnogorsk, Moscow oblast, Russia, on Tuesday, January 14.

Suddenly, the tractor veers to the right and takes out a bollard as it drives through a playground in front of some apartment buildings.

The police car stops short of following it, then the driver takes a parallel street.

The tractor then turns again and heads away, with the police car stopping and beginning to reverse as the footage ends.

Local media reports said that the suspect, an illegal immigrant, was eventually arrested.

He reportedly told the police that he had not stolen the tractor but had simply 'borrowed' it for a couple of hours to help a friend clear some snow.

Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesman Irina Volk said he had neither a licence to drive a tractor nor the proper training.

She said: 'The police officers signalled the driver to stop to check his documents.

'However, he did not obey, drove onto the pavement and continued driving along the adjacent territory, increasing his speed and creating a danger to those around him.'

She added that the man later abandoned the vehicle before being arrested.

It is currently unclear what penalties he faces.
