Shopkeepers caught a snake hiding a shelf of toiletries at a convenience store in Thailand.

The brave workers volunteered to search for reptile found slithering between the aisle by a janitor in Phichit province on December 24.

Footage shows the colleagues aided with a broom and dust pan looking under the shelves to find the serpent.

They lured it out before one of them quickly stepped on the animal's tail to prevent it from escaping.

They then used a cloth and plastic bag to capture it and turned it over to rescuers afterwards for release.

Customer Saranphong Chotiphuang said: 'We all thought at first that it was a mouse but it was a snake. Everyone was scared, but the 7-Eleven staff members volunteered.'

Thailand has many snakes due to its warm tropical climate, which provides an ideal habitat for them. The country's diverse ecosystems, including forests, wetlands, and rice fields, support more than 200 snake species.
