Footage shows a box of Chinese New Year firecrackers being set off on a road - exploding yards from a bride and groom's wedding car.

The incident took place in Guizhou, China, with firecrackers igniting as cars passed in front of the husband's house on January 22.

As the car, driven by the groom's friend Mr Dai, passes by, the entire box blasts, and the dashcam video ends.

A second clip shows damage to the car, which Mr Dai had agreed to use for the wedding. The footage reveals damage to the front left wheel and windscreen.

Reports said the explosion was powerful enough to deploy the driver's airbag.

There were no reported injuries, but the burst and resulting damage affected the festive mood of the event.

The make and model of the vehicle were not confirmed, though some onlookers speculated it was a Chery Omenda, which can cost around GBP 30,000.

Mr Dai is reportedly awaiting an assessment from his insurance company.
