This is the shocking moment a furious pet cat suddenly attacked a child and even tried opening a door after he and his mum fled.

CCTV footage shows the boy repositioning the shoe rack when the white ragdoll charged at him in their living room in Chongqing, China, on January 26.

Upon seeing this, the woman yanked her son away, with the furry creature trying to scratch and climb up his leg.

He then fell to the floor, losing his other slipper, while his mum grabbed the enraged feline and tossed it across the room.

She then took the terrified child and frantically entered another room. As she closed the door, the cat bolted and jumped at it, attempting to get inside.

The animal even latched onto the handle, but the mum had shut the door just in time.

The mother said: 'We are considering whether to keep the cat, which has been with us for two years, or get rid of it.'

Cats can become stressed or anxious due to changes in their environment, such as moving to a new home, the introduction of a new pet or family member, or loud noises. They can also become territorial, especially if they feel their space is being invaded.
