Terrifying footage shows a leopard attacking a group of panicked locals in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, on February 6.

The wild animal was spotted roaming near a field and a large crowd gathered in an attempt to chase it off. However, the leopard went on the offensive and left three villagers injured - Sandeep, 20; Ramakant, 35; Indra Dayal, 45.

Panic gripped a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district after a leopard strayed in from the forest and attacked villagers. The incident took place at 7 AM in Bhatha Bargadaha village under the Nishangada Range of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division.


The leopard was first spotted roaming near the field of a villager named Shrikishan. As soon as the villagers saw it, a large crowd gathered, and they attempted to chase it away using sticks and loud shouts. However, the leopard suddenly became aggressive and launched a brutal attack, seriously injuring three villagers—20-year-old Sandeep, 35-year-old Ramakant, and 45-year-old Indra Dayal.



Upon receiving the information, Nishangada Forest Range Officer Surendra Srivastava and his team, including Forest Inspector Israr Ahmed and Rajesh Kaushal Kishore, rushed to the scene. They used firecrackers to scare the leopard away, eventually forcing it to retreat into the forest.


The injured villagers were immediately taken to the Sujauli Primary Health Center. Due to their serious condition, doctors later referred them to the Moti Pur Community Health Center for further treatment.


Following the incident, angry villagers have raised concerns about safety and the increasing presence of wild animals in their area. The forest department has assured them that measures are being taken to monitor the leopard’s movements and prevent further incidents.
